Let me take you with us through the beautiful Isle of Skye!!
Where should I start? When it comes to talking about Scotland there are way too many things I’d like to tell you about! Let me start by saying that Scotland is my favorite country that I’ve visited so far! With Canada coming second on the list.
This country is insanely beautiful, raw and still wild for the most part! You will find the narrowest paved road ever and will meet probably more sheep than inhabitants! Nonetheless, we’ve been warmly welcomed everywhere and the food was all we needed after our hiking days under the rain! Cause yeah it RAINS A TON in October!
We left Oxford and drove straight up to Edinburgh crossing all of England before reaching the border. You can find more photos in my previous post from our stop in Edinburgh. Anyway, this island blew my mind! I never felt this small before in front of nature (After Banff, Canada). The only part of the trip that I had planned was where to go. We spent most of our nights sleeping in the back of the car with one or two nights in a hostel. And Voilà, my kind of planning hahaha!
What to do and where to go on the Isle of Skye?
It’s super easy to just make a loop around and hit all of the iconic spots from the Isle of Skye. We went from Portree and all the way around for about 5 days. I wish we could have stayed longer cause it was surely not enough for us to see everything we wanted to do! We are the kind of people who love to stay a month in each country to experience it fully.
Let me just list you the ones we did:
– The Old Man of Storr, MIND-BLOWING. Started our hike at sunrise under the rain coming from the back, by the end of the morning the rain went away and only one side of my body was fully wet haha!
– Fairy Pools, probably the easiest walk around this island! A magical place for waterfall lovers and blue-green water!
-Quiraing… Freaking incredible broken landscape! The hike along the edge of the mountains is just outstanding, with a few sheep friends along the way!
– Neist Point Lighthouse, It was so windy than when you jumped you could fly away from a few feet! Like CRAZY WIND, the strongest I have ever experienced!
One of my favorite road trips! What I would recommend:
The road itself to the Isle of Skye is something you should plan to do in two days! Cause HOLY CRAP you don’t want to miss any of it! Scotland is the dream country for adventurous couples who wish to elope in a wild raw kind of place! 100% recommend for any hiking lovers! I’m ready to go back anytime!
Hey y’all! Small introduction before you start digging in this freaking awesome road trip we did back in 2016!! Yep, October 2016 and it was my birthday!!! I can’t believe it’s been this long!!! Just wanted to show you the faces behind the camera, cause Tim helped a lot getting these images! I’m Anaïs the face behind this website and Anaïs Possamaï Photography! If you’ve been following me for a while now, you’ll already know that nature has my heart and this is how I get inspired the most. My mind feels at peace when I’m surrounded by nothing but green! My passion for photography grew by sharing all of the amazing places I had the chance to visit for the past 5 years. On a more personal point, this was our first trip abroad with Tim as a couple! I lived in England, Oxford at the time and we decided to meet up and go explore Scotland, Edinburgh was our first stop and ended up on the most beautiful island in the freaking world, THE ISLE OF SKYE! Enjoy 🙂
