Marian and Tristan’s late October wedding at River Run Lodge was the perfect way to wrap up my wedding season last year. Their day was a mix of olive green and white details, meaningful traditions, and so many fun moments from beginning to end.
I first met Marian and Tristan earlier that year when I photographed their proposal at Smith Rock. It was a very windy day, so when their wedding day turned out windy too, we all laughed about it. I guess windy photos are just our thing now!
After getting to know them during their proposal, I was so excited when they reached out to have me photograph their wedding, too. They are so much fun to be around, and that energy carried through the entire day. Neither of them let the weather bother them, and we embraced the wind during portraits and had the best time with it.
Their ceremony was full of personal and meaningful details. Marian and Tristan included Jewish traditions to honor Marian’s family, like signing their ketubah before the ceremony and bringing those traditions into the celebration on the dance floor later. A really touching moment happened during the processional. Each bridesmaid placed a rose on an empty chair set aside to remember Tristan’s mom. It was a simple gesture, but very meaningful and one of the most emotional parts of the day.
After the ceremony, we took advantage of the beautiful grounds around River Run Lodge for their portraits. Even with the late-October wind following us around, Marian and Tristan were completely up for having fun with it. There was plenty of movement, laughter, and a bit of weather-related chaos, which honestly made the photos even more fun.
When everyone went inside, the party really started. The reception was full of energy, with friends and family filling the dance floor and keeping some of the Jewish traditions going from earlier. It was the kind of celebration where everyone wanted to join in. Photographing Marian and Tristan twice in one year, from their windy Smith Rock proposal to another windy wedding day, made this extra special for me. It was a great way to end my season and a day I’ll always remember.
