This Woodlands House Elopement in Sandy Oregon was out of a dream! If you’re a Twilight fan as I am (no shame haha) you’ll fall in love with this elopement! I started to talk about my move to Oregon last month and I’m super excited to be able to live in a state like Oregon! I had the chance to participate to the Wanderworkshop, hosted by Dawn Photo last January. It was my first time in Oregon even though I lived in California for about a year! When I drove from Portland to The Woodlands House in Sandy Oregon, I knew this was going to be the perfect place for my husband and me to move.
The Elopement
As we arrived to the Woodlands House, you keep driving deeper into the forest. The path that takes you to the house makes you feel like you’re in a movie. The trees covered in moss, the pine trees, the small glasshouse outside the main house, the terrace outside the living room guiding you to the forest. Everything in this place made me want to move as soon as possible.
After learning from Dawn and Jackie, we had the chance to meet Keena and Ian to photograph them in the beautiful setting that Amy from Brier+Ivy had set up for us. For the ceremony, she built up a cloud of foliage and flowers hanging in between two giant pine trees. Amy created something very unique keeping the earthy color to match the outdoor ceremony vibe they were going for. The best part was the glasshouse/greenhouse she turned into the reception dinner area. She had mixed dry flowers and fresh flowers with a touch of fruits. I loved how she also decorated the ceiling with the dry slice of oranges and on the table the fresh grapefruit to give it a little more color. And if you feel like you’ve heard the name of Brier+Ivy before you’re right! She was my florist for Tim and I’s elopement in Yosemite! Having the chance to work with her again on a project was absolutely amazing.
The rain didn’t stop us and made this elopement an absolute blast. Keena and Ian lived the moment fully by playing and dancing in the rain together and take the opportunity to be present for each other. Keena had prepared a letter for Ian which was so sweet to capture.
The location
The Woodlands House is located right outside Sandy, Oregon and 45 min away from Portland, OR. A hidden gem in the middle of 5acres of the Oregon forest. You can rent the property for the weekend and enjoy this perfect getaway. It’s close to Mt Hood and you can enjoy everything it has to offer. The house has been rented now for intimate weddings celebration. And I have to say if you’re looking for an intimate setting for your wedding day, this is the perfect location for an elopement or small wedding.
