Hilary and Andrew’s Hug Point maternity session was a lot of fun! They chose this location to document this new chapter of their story and it offered the perfect mix of intimacy and quiet beauty along the Oregon Coast. We met at the end of April timing everything around a lower tide so we could fully explore the beach. That way we could walk along the shoreline, through the cave, and pass the small waterfall that Hug Point is known for. The day was grey and softly overcast, creating a calm, moody atmosphere that felt peaceful. With fewer people on the beach at that time of year, it felt like we had the place almost to ourselves. They decided to bring their dog for their session which is always a fun way to make sure the family photo is complete! After receiving her gallery Hilary contacted me to tell me her little boy had arrived and I was so excited to be included in the announcement of their new chapter!
We took our time creating all the images they wanted and truly enjoy our time is such a beautiful location. Hug Point is one of my favorite locations on the coast, between the dramatic cliffs, smooth sand, and the waterfall it gives you a lot of variety to create the best images. I recommend going at low tide, to be bale to walk over the other sides of this unique location. If you’re able to pair a lower tide and a sunset at the time I highly recommend you make Hug Point a priority when visiting the Oregon Coast! Only a 15min drive south of Cannon Beach it’s the perfect addition when visiting the area. Nestled between Arcadia Beach and Oswald West State Park, it offers a more tucked-away feel while still being accessible.
