We met with Amanda and Tanner for sunset at the beautiful Cape Kiwanda beach for their couple session. We started down the dunes first, playing along the water while trying to not get too wet at first. We then climbed up the dunes to get a few portraits with their first outfit before they changed for the second one.
When we first chatted, I had not realized yet that Amanda and Tanner shared the same wedding anniversary as Tim and I. Different year but same date! What a coincidence. Their session wasn’t too long after their wedding anniversary so it was the perfect excuse for them to be in front of the camera and capture their one year wedding anniversary in Cape Kiwanda. They both are full of life and love to laugh together. I have to say they really laughed the entire time we were in Cape Kiwanda for their couple session. And I couldn’t ask for more. All I want when photographing couples is that they have a lot of fun together. They were all in for anything and really made the most of it that night.
About Cape Kiwanda
Cape Kiwanda is one of the 3 Capes Scenic Route along the coast that you can visit and enjoy some of the best landscapes of Oregon. Cape Kiwanda is different than the other as this one is a dune shaped with the force of the waves. When you first arrive on the parking lot, you’ll have to take a walk along the beach before being able to climb up the dunes. The views on top of the dunes are spectacular. I have to say I’ve never seen anything like this before. The shape the landscape has taken because of the waves crashing on the coast is stunning. It creates small arches and caves that you can see once on the top of the dunes. Not as famous as the Haystack Rock in Cannon Beach but as impressive you’ll see this giant rock coming out the water off the shore as well.
Cape Kiwanda is located about 2hours from Portland and 1hr and 15min from Salem. It’s easy to access and it will give you the opportunity to witness some of the best landscapes in Oregon.
Cape Kiwanda is the perfect location for engagement photos on the Oregon Coast as well as elopement and weddings. The epic landscape of Cape Kiwanda will make the perfect backdrop for any photo sessions. It is definitely one of my favorites on the Oregon coast.
