Taryn and Danny’s Olympic National Park Wedding was pure magic. From the moment I arrived, it was clear their day was going to be so special, deeply personal , laid back and surrounded by the kind of natural beauty that makes you feel small in the best way.
They chose to get married on the beach at Kalaloch, some of the prettiest stretches of the coastline in the park. Taryn, Danny and their guest all rented cabins at the Kalaloch lodge so they could all stay on site and close to the celebration. Making it feel like a cozy weekend getaway in one of Washington State prettiest National Park. They decided to have their closest friends and family joined them which still made it feel very intimate during their ceremony. We all headed down to the beach and everybody stood by the them while they exchanged their heartfelt vows in front of everyone. It was a simple set up but with a stunning backdrop. At the beach the fog was part of the party and still it made for a gorgeous setting.
One thing i loved, was Taryn’s dress, a total dream! Flowy, romantic, whimsical that looked incredible in both the misty beach and lush green rainforest. With added puffy sleeves, it just finished the look so perfectly.
For their portraits, we originally had planned to visit some of the most iconic locations in Olympic NP. We started with Ruby Beach, one of my all time favorite locations in the park. It’s moody, dramatic and rugged. It was foggy still which can be typical on a summer day but gives you the perfect moody vibes. We then headed to the Quinault Rainforest as opposed to the HOH, since it is a long wait to get into this part of the park in the summer. If you’re not planning to be there first thing in the morning, summer days make it really hard to get to. We pivoted and so glad we did. It was the perfect location for a quiet day which made it even more magical within this lush green space to soak it all in.
Once we were back and after dinner, everyone gathered back on the beach to end the night around a bonfire with smores, music and lots of laughter. Perfect way to end a cozy wedding day.
Olympic National Park is one of my favorite National Park, I absolutely love the variety of landscapes it offers. It’s one of the most diverse and breathtaking location to elope in the beautiful PNW. Within just a short drive you can go from rugged beaches to old growth rainforests to alpine peaks and lakes, making it feel like multiple destinations in one. The park is about a 3hrs drive from. Seattle depending on where you want to be in the park. It is very easy to access all of their iconic locations which makes it the perfect destination for small weddings and elopements.
